Feeling real is more than existing; it is finding a way to exist as oneself...and to have a self into which to retreat for relaxation.

ADULT PSYCHOTHERAPy (online available)

Throughout our adult lives our relationships, roles and responsibilities inevitably grow and become more complex, bringing with them challenges and changes that can be both satisfying and at times, uncomfortable.

As adults, the way in which we socially and emotionally engage with others is often shaped by our early life experiences. It is through our childhood relationships, namely with our families and carers, that we begin to build a 'road map' of how to communicate in relationships as well as establishing ways of coping with hardship. You may have noticed recurring patterns emerge in the way you communicate in relationships, or how you confront difficulties.

When a significant life event, such as the birth of a child, illness, divorce or death of a loved one occurs, we may find that our usual patterns for coping with difficulties are no longer sustaining us, and we need to review and reflect upon the 'road map' we have used for most of our lives, exploring new possibilities.

Through our work together we will explore your current life and how it may relate to past experiences, providing you with greater understanding and insight, giving you choice in your life.

When can therapy be useful?

Adults engage with psychotherapy for a range of reasons, including:

  • Experiencing anxiety or depression, stopping you from feeling content and living the life you want.

  • Questioning your sense of direction and potential, feeling unsure about the future.

  • A desire to know yourself, understanding your needs, wants and desires and bringing voice to them.

  • Relationship difficulties such as establishing and maintaining romantic partnerships.

  • Sleep concerns, stress management or concerns with motivation.
