There’s no perfect family; it’s a myth...it’s trying to do good through a series of mistakes. It’s part of the human condition...no one knows how to do it right.

FAMILIES...

They can be complex and at times difficult to navigate. Finding the best way forward for your family will be unique.

Family Therapy enables family members to express and explore their concerns and difficulties in a safe space.

WHEN CAN FAMILY THERAPY be useful?

Research has shown that Family Therapy is useful for children, young people and adults that are experiencing a wide range of concerns and circumstances, such as:

  • Emotional or behavioural concerns that are impacting on the family's functioning.

  • Changes in the family structure such as separation, divorce, step-family life and loss.

  • Communication difficulties or conflict between family members resulting in arguments and isolation.

  • Parenting concerns.

  • Couple and relationship difficulties.

My APPROACH

My role is to understand and hold in mind all of the perspectives in your family. This means that there is no blame towards individual members, and responsibility to change the current concerns belongs to everyone in the family.

Family Therapists believe that the family, with all of its knowledge, understanding, humour and love are best equipped to find a solution together as opposed to individually.

Depending on the concerns that a family brings will depend on how often we meet and how long we need to maintain sessions. I have found that families appreciate meeting on a monthly basis for up to 10-12 sessions, as a minimum.
